WHAT IS PRAZEPAM EG 10 mg, tablet AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR?

The active substance in PRAZEPAM EG 10 mg tablet is prazepam. Prazepam is a benzodiazepine derivative and is indicated to treat symptoms of anxiety.

Benzodiazepines are used to treat severe disabling symptoms or symptoms that cause extreme suffering to the patient.

PRAZEPAM EG 10 mg tablet is used to treat anxiety and nervous tension requiring sedative treatment.

Never take PRAZEPAM EG:

· if you are allergic to prazepam or any of the other ingredients contained in this medicine, mentioned in section 6.

· if you have had an allergic reaction to other benzodiazepines in the past,

· if you suffer from myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness),

· if you have severe breathing difficulties,

· in children under 6 years old,

· if you have sleep apnea syndrome (breathing pauses during sleep),

· if you have severe liver failure (severe liver disease)

HOW TO TAKE PRAZEPAM EG 10 mg, tablet?

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if in doubt.

All formulations of PRAZEPAM EG 10 mg, tablet are intended for oral administration.

Your doctor will determine the daily dose you should take. The usual dose is 10 mg to 60 mg of prazepam, depending on your response.

Elderly patients

If you are elderly or very weak, treatment should start at a dose of 10 mg or 15 mg of prazepam (divided into several doses during the day), which will then be increased if necessary.

Adolescents (12 to 17 years old)

If you are under 18 years old, your dose will be adapted according to your age and weight. The maximum dose is 1 mg/kg per day.

Duration of treatment

Your doctor will tell you how long you should take PRAZEPAM EG 10 mg tablet. In most cases, benzodiazepines should only be taken occasionally or temporarily, that is, for a short period of time. Sometimes, the patient’s health condition requires treatment with PRAZEPAM EG 10 mg, a longer-lasting tablet.

If you use benzodiazepines for longer periods of time, your doctor will regularly assess whether you should continue treatment.

Liver or kidney disease

A dosage reduction should be considered in patients with hepatic or renal impairment.
