What is Lorsilan?
Lorsilan injection is used before certain medical procedures, such as surgery, to relieve anxiety. When Lorsilanis used before surgery, the patient will not remember some of the details about the procedure. Lorsilan is also used to treat certain convulsive (seizure) disorders, such as epilepsy.
Lorsilan is a benzodiazepine. Benzodiazepines belong to the group of medicines called central nervous system (CNS) depressants, which are medicines that slow down the nervous system.
Lorsilan is available only with your doctor’s prescription.
How should I use Lorsilan?
Use Lorsilan solution as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Lorsilan solution is usually given as an injection at your doctor’s office, hospital, or clinic. If you will be using Lorsilan solution at home, a health care provider will teach you how to use it. Be sure you understand how to use Lorsilan solution. Follow the procedures you are taught when you use a dose. Contact your health care provider if you have any questions.
- Do not use Lorsilan solution if it contains particles, is cloudy or discolored, or if the vial is cracked or damaged.
- Lorazepam Hemofarm solution should not be injected into an artery because serious side effects may occur.
- Keep this product, as well as syringes and needles, out of the reach of children and pets. Do not reuse needles, syringes, or other materials. Ask your health care provider how to dispose of these materials after use. Follow all local rules for disposal.
- If you miss a dose of Lorsilan solution, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.

Lorsilan description
A benzodiazepine used as an anti-anxiety agent with few side effects. It also has hypnotic, anticonvulsant, and considerable sedative properties and has been proposed as a preanesthetic agent.

Recommended Dosage
Initiate Lorsilan in patients who are being treated with Lorsilan tablets, administered three times daily in evenly divided doses (refer to the Prescribing Information of Lorazepam Hemofarm tablets for the recommended dosage of Lorsilan tablets).
Discontinue Lorsilan tablets and administer the first dose of Lorsilan in the morning the day after the final dose of Lorsilan tablets.
The recommended once daily dosage of Lorsilan is equal to the total daily dose of Lorsilan tablets. For example, the recommended dosage for patients who have been receiving Lorsilan tablets at a dosage of 1 mg three times daily is Lorsilan once daily in the morning.
The effectiveness of Lorsilan use for more than 4 months has not been assessed in clinical studies. Healthcare providers should periodically re-evaluate longer term use of Lorsilan.
Administration Information
Administer Lorsilan orally once daily, in the morning, with or without food. Do not crush or chew Lorsilan.
Swallow Lorsilan capsules whole or open the capsule and sprinkle the entire contents over a tablespoon of applesauce, followed by drinking water. Consume all the sprinkled Lorsilan in its entirety, (without chewing) within 2 hours; do not store for future use.
Dosage Increase for Inadequate Clinical Response
If the clinical response to Lorsilan is inadequate and a dosage increase in needed, discontinue Lorsilan and switch to Lorsilan tablets to increase the dosage. If an adequate clinical response is achieved with a stable, evenly divided three times daily dosage of Lorsilantablets, resume Lorsilan once daily dosing with the total daily dose of Lorsilan tablets.
Discontinuation or Dosage Reduction of Lorsilan
To reduce the risk of withdrawal reactions, use a gradual taper to discontinue Lorsilan or reduce the dosage. If a patient develops withdrawal reactions, consider pausing the taper or increasing the dosage to the previous tapered dosage level. Subsequently decrease the dosage more slowly.
